HICKORY, N.C. -- Hickory Police are searching for a suspect in a Friday morning bank robbery.
Officials say the Wells Fargo branch in the 200 block of 1st Avenue NW was robbed just before 10 a.m. on Friday.
The suspect, dressed in a dark jacket, dark toboggan and wearing a black back brace, walked into the bank, declared he had a gun and demanded money from the teller, police say.
The suspect, who's described as late 40s, approximately six-feet-tall, weighing 250 pounds, fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of cash.
Nearby Oakwood Elementary School went into lockdown briefly as authorities searched for a suspect, but the full lockdown has since been lifted, per direction from the police department.
Hickory Public Schools tells NBC Charlotte the campus is now on an "exterior lockdown", operating as if it were a "rainy day".
No injuries were reported in relation to the robbery.
