Now that Christmas has come and gone, some people are enjoying their new digital cameras. But, you may not know that there is an art to taking perfect picture.

If you walked by the Firebird in Uptown on Thursday, you probably saw them: photographers snapping away. No doubt some of these photos will end up on social media sites, like Twitter, Instagram, or everybody's favorite: Facebook.

Snapping photos has never been easier. Business Week magazine reported that smart phone sales are up 32 percent over last year.  So how can you take better, more pleasing memories?  Here are three simple examples:

First, always have your subjects face in the sun, that an easy.

Also, fill the frame with only the good stuff.  In one photo you can see the crosswalk sign, and part of a building, behind the Firebird.

Walking up a little closer and you can see the Firebird fills most of the frame and is more pleasing of a shot.

Same works for people, here you can see both the man, and the firebird in the frame.  Move the man forward and tighten the framing and now you can clearly see the man in front of the Firebird. Easy.

Last tip: for a shot at night, you're going to have to use a tripod or somewhere to place the camera for a steady shot.

Now that you know how to take the perfect picture, we want to see your holiday photos! Just post them to our wall on Facebook.
