Yarn lovers all over the U.S. will celebrate ‘I Love Yarn Day’, on Friday October 11. Yarn enthusiasts get together and share their love for knitting, crocheting, spinning, or weaving. This tradition actually began three years ago when various yarn communities got together to celebrate the passion for yarn, by inviting yarn enthusiasts to share their passion for knitting and crocheting.
According to the Craft Yarn Council, an industry association in the US, there are nearly 50 million people of all ages who know to knit, crochet, and craft with yarn, and this day brings them together to share their love for the craft. People are encouraged to teach someone to knit or crochet, wear a knitted or crocheted item, or give a gift of yarn.
This morning on Larry’s Look, a local group of yarn enthusiasts demonstrated their techniques and displayed some of their creations. They even “yarn-bombed” an office chair and a bicycle! Alyson Bell, from Red Heart Yarns, presented Larry with a very unique “yarnbrella”---an umbrella made of yarn!
