CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- One person died and two more were taken to the hospital after being shot near uptown Charlotte Wednesday afternoon.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police confirmed that one person was pronounced dead at the hospital after sustaining gunshot wounds in the 400 block of Sylvania Avenue. He’s been identified as Charles Anthony Jefferson, 54.
One of the shooting victims managed to run to the 1600 block of North Graham Street. Paramedics said they transported that person with life threatening injuries, also as a result of gunshot wounds.
Police said the third victim was also shot at the Sylvania Ave. scene. That patient has non-life threatening injuries, officials said, and was taken to Novant Health.
Police arrested Colin Demon Latta in connection to the shooting.
Latta was arrested without incident Thursday morning in York County by CMPD’s Violent Criminal Apprehension Team and they were assisted by members of the York County Sheriff’s Office.
Latta will extradited back to Mecklenburg County.
