CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Shirley Thompson has a green thumb. If her yard were a golf course, it would be Pinehurst -- a beautiful, well maintained showplace.

But Thompson is disturbed by something going on in her Cameron Woods neighborhood and surrounding area.

Residents say a man named, Roger McIntosh, is back again soliciting residents door-to-door with bargain rates for tree services, falsely claiming to be a Certified Arborist who is licensed and insured.

This isn't the first time McIntosh has made false promises, or never completed a job he was paid to do in the south Charlotte area.

Last year, NewsChannel 36 learned McIntosh had been hired to do work for south Charlotte resident Skip Adams.

Adams hired McIntosh to trim several trees in his yard, but when a tree fell on a neighbor's home, he learned that McIntosh didn't have the insurance he claimed he had.

Adams was left to pay a $1,600 repair bill on the neighbor's roof.

"He comes off very clean and honest," Adams told NewsChannel 36 in 2011.

NewsChannel 36 also learned that McIntosh has a lengthy arrest record that includes assault on a female and numerous drug charges.

"That worries me. It worries me for my children," Thompson said of McIntosh's arrest record.

Neighbors have warned that McIntosh has also changed his name and business cards with the hopes of picking up new clients in the area.
