ALBEMALRE , N.C. -- An Albemarle man has garnered a lot of attention after posting a video on YouTube of himself reading his daughter's Facebook rant and then shooting her laptop with a handgun.
The man, who identifies himself as Tommy Jordan, posted the video on YouTube in response to a rant his daughter made about doing chores around the house and being a slave to her parents.
The video was posted on Jordan's YouTube channel on Wednesday and already had 1.8 million views as of Friday afternoon.
In the letter, his 15-year-old daughter talks about how she does all the chores around the house and should get paid for it.
"I'm not your damn slave. It's not my responsibility to clean up your [expletive]. We have a cleaning lady for a reason," the daughter is alleged to have said in the Facebook post. "If you want coffee, get off your [expletive] and get it yourself. If you want a garden, shovel the fertilizer yourself, don't sit back on your [expletive] and watch me do it."
After reading the letter, Jordan responds by reminding his daughter that she does not make his bed or do his laundry.
"If you have any laundry of your own -- do it. If your bed is unmade -- do it. You don't have to do my laundry. You don't have to make my bed. You don't have to make the guest bed. You have to make your own bed," Jordan said.
Jordan continues in the video rant by talking about the responsibilities he had when he was his daughter's age.
"When I was your age, I had moved out of the house, lived on my own, went to college while I was still in high school, worked two jobs, was a volunteer fireman, and still managed to finish school."
At the end his rant, Jordan said he would post this video on his daughter's Facebook wall so she and her friends could see it.
He then pulled out a .45-caliber handgun and shot the laptop several times.
