MONROE, N.C. – A masked man robbed a bank in Monroe on Tuesday afternoon, police say.

The robbery took place around 1:30 p.m. at the PNC Bank at 1730 Dickerson Boulevard.

Officials say a man entered the bank and demanded money from the teller before leaving on foot and running into the woods behind the bank.

No gun was shown during the robbery, and K-9 attempts to track the robber were unsuccessful.

The suspect is an African American man in his 30’s, approximately six feet tall with a slim build.  He was last seen wearing a dark gray hooded shirt, jeans, sunglasses, white socks on his hands and a white cloth over his mouth

Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 704-283-5600.
