CHESTER COUNTY, S.C. – The Chester County Sheriff’s Office has charged a man with killing an 11-month-old.
Authorities said on Wednesday, deputies went to Hardin Strait Road after receiving a call that an infant had been injured. When investigators arrived, they said no one was at the home.
A short time later Levine Children’s Hospital contacted the Chester County Sheriff’s Office and Social Services about the injuries the child sustained while in the care of Jeffery Todd Bradley Jr, 27.
Investigators said the baby died on Friday from fatal head injuries.
“That’s terrible. I couldn’t imagine anybody doing something to a baby,” said Brenda Fleming, who lives next to where the baby and the mother lived on Hardin Strait Road.
Neighbors said Bradley was babysitting while the mother was at work. Fleming said the mother and the baby had lived in the mobile home for only a couple of months.
“She was a sweet little baby. It’s terrible that anybody would do anything to a baby,” she said.
Bradley has been charged with the death of the child.
