MATTHEWS, N.C. -- Neighbors along Marglyn Drive are worried speeding cars are putting their families at risk.
Commuters often use the road to connect from Independence Boulevard to Stallings and Indian Trail.
“You can hear the tires squealing,” said Jason Gardner, father of two girls.
The Gardners moved to the street last year after the birth of their second daughter; new homes and a church both appealed to the family.
“Got a small town feel to it. After a couple months, we started seeing cars speeding right by.”
NBC Charlotte monitored several cars speeding down the short stretch of road, where 35mph is the speed limit; a curve and blind hill make speeding even more dangerous.
“Slow down. Seriously, slow down. I have little girls! There's other children on this street. People of this church. The last thing we need is something horrible happening,” pleaded Garner.
NBC Charlotte contacted the Town of Matthews about Marglyn Drive. A spokesperson said crews would check out safety on the road.
