CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- They are building it and adding to it, and the city of Rock Hill hopes that thousands of people will come and hundreds of others will choose to call home.

It's called Riverwalk, a 1,000 acre muti-use development which sits off Cleanse Road near I-77.

The development will have single family homes and office spaces and even a shopping village. The city is also a partner with the developer, Assured Group because of a deal it made to build an outdoor center on 250 acres of land.

The outdoor center will have a half dozen different types of activities like cycling and softball fields, and a YMCA should also join the other attractions of the Riverwalk.

Earlier this year the world class Giordana Velodrome opened and the city has begun moving dirt in order to build a Olympic ready BMX Supercross track at the outdoor center.

The city says their part of this partnership could mean millions for the local economy.

"It feels great we're real  proud of what we've been able to do we've got a progressive community. we've got leaders who have vision we're real proud of what we've been able to accomplish." said John

Taylor, Operations Supervisor of Parks and Recreation of the City Of Rock Hill.
