CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Charlotte police are searching for thieves who broke in to a just-opened southwest Charlotte barber shop early Sunday morning.

The burglary took place around 4 a.m. at Rayzorsharp Barber & Styling at the intersection of Nations Ford Road and Arrowood Road.  The store was formerly called Edwards Barber and Styling but closed eight months ago.

A former barber there, Raymond Carver, reopened the store under the new name.

"It took a lot of blood, sweat and tears out of me, I can tell you that," Carver said.  "I really didn't have the money to do it, but it was a dream of mine and just trying to fulfill it."

Police say thieves stole 22 pairs of clippers worth $2,200, two TVs, an iPad and several video games.

"You take a man's tools so he can't work, that's ridiculous," Carver said.  "I'm just here to take care of my children and help other men take care of their children."

The barber shop employs four people and does not have business insurance.  Carver said he was going to get the insurance this week if he could afford it after last week's sales.

The store is expected to be open later Monday or Tuesday after spending about $1,000 to get new clippers.

Police hope surveillance video of the suspects will help lead to an arrest.
