Johnston Road reopened at I-485 after overnight wreck

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Charlotte-Mecklenburg police have reopened Johnston Road after an overnight accident in Ballantyne Wednesday morning.

The accident happened around 2:30 a.m. on Johnston Road near the inbound ramp of I-485 heading towards Pineville.

Johnston Road northbound at John J. Delaney were closed until 8:15 a.m., according to police.

The I-485 inner loop ramp to Johnston Road northbound was closed through the morning rush hour for Duke Energy and city workers to repair the traffic signals that were hit during the accident.

Commuters on Johnston Road and I-485 between Rea Road and Pineville should still expect delays throughout the morning, according to police.

Commuters can take Pineville-Matthews Road to I-485 and Rea Road as alternate routes.

One person suffered non-life threatening injuries in the single vehicle accident. The crash is still under investigation by CMPD.
