CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Charlotte-Mecklenburg police arrested a man accused of robbing a bank in north Charlotte on Tuesday.

Police said  24-year-old Tony Jess Combs tried to rob the PNC Bank off of W.T. Harris Boulevard at about 2 p.m.

When officers arrived on scene, they began to circulate the area and located a man matching the description of the bank robbery suspect. 

An officer attempted to speak to Combs but he fled on foot.

After a short foot chase the subject was taken into custody and positively identified by witnesses. 

Officers located in the suspect’s possession the money that was taken in the robbery.
