CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Two men and a woman led police on a chase after a bank was robbed in east Charlotte Wednesday morning.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said two men robbed the First Citizens Bank in the 8000 block of Albemarle Road around 9 a.m.
Two men walked into the bank and demanded money. After taking the money, the two suspects stole someone's car at the bank before ditching the car a few blocks away to jump into a BMW, police said.
"A chase ensued. Our helicopter was able to get over it," said Lt. J.D. Thomas.
Officers were able to locate the suspects trying to get away in the BMW and gave chase. Police identify them as George Rinnix Jr., 48, Cory Talbert, 35, and the driver, 25-year-old Tiffani Robinson, who told police she is pregnant.
During the chase, the two suspects threw two bags of money out the window before the woman turned into a neighborhood on W.T. Harris, police said.
"They got bogged down where officers were able to take three suspects into custody. Money and items were recovered that were thrown out along the pursuit of the chase, and the guns have been recovered," said Lt. Thomas.
Police said they were able to trap the suspects on District Drive just off of W.T. Harris. Officers took all three of them into custody without any injuries.
"Our officers did a great job and the public was not in any danger," said Lt. Thomas.
