STANLEY, N.C. -- Several agencies are investigating a Stanley daycare center owner accused of sex crimes against a child.

Robert Kerby is charged with 11 different crimes, including first-degree statutory sex offense and indecent liberties with a child. Court documents say the girl is younger than 13 years old, and the alleged offenses happened in December 2012 and from August to September of this year.

Police say the abuse happened at the daycare and another, unnamed location. It happened three times that investigators know of, detectives say.

Kerby has owned Caron’s Care Daycare with his wife for the last 19 years.

Stanley Police, Gaston County Police and agents from the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation executed a search warrant in the business Tuesday night. They also met with parents of children currently attending the facility to alert them to the charges.

The daycare’s license has been suspended.

In court Thursday, the District Attorney stated lots of electronics were found at Kerby's home, and given that he's charged with indecent liberties, that could be an indicator of child pornography.

Kerby is being held under a $2.5 million bond in Gaston County Jail.

Anyone with information should call Crime Stoppers at 704-861-8000.
