GASTONIA, N.C. -- A substitute teacher is accused of assaulting a 5-year-old student, according to Gastonia police.
Police charged 26-year-old Christopher Diaone Alexander with assault on Tuesday.
Alexander is accused of grabbing the 5-year-old by the neck and groin, and pinching the child’s groin, according to police.
The alleged incident happened at Rhyne Elementary School in Gastonia on May 31.
Alexander was jailed under a $15,000 secured bond. Alexander is no longer employed with the Gaston County School System as of June, according to officials.
