CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Multiple police crews responded to a home in south Charlotte on Tuesday morning and arrested a man they say is responsible for an early Monday morning shooting at the NC Music Factory.

The police activity lasted several hours before Harold Radford Porter, 32, was taken into custody around noon.

The arrest took place in the 3900 block of Bon-Rea Drive off Rea Road near the Wessex Square apartment complex and next door to the house that Mark Schemmer has lived in for more than a decade.

"I heard my dogs barking and when I took them outside I saw one or two folks behind trees...Then I saw the police on their backs and I said 'Oh my," Schemmer said.  "I lived here a while and I've never seen anything akin to this."

Police say Porter shot a man during a fight in the parking lot outside Club Label around 2:45 a.m. Monday and then drove off.

The victim has non-life threatening injuries and according to an incident report told investigators Porter was the shooter.

"There was one (police officer) in the tree in my front yard," said a man named George who lives across the street from the house officers surrounded. "We heard them telling the person inside to come out...which he later did."

Porter is charged with assault with a deadly weapon and inflicting serious injury.  More charges may be filed, CMPD said.

Neighbors say the people who live in the house were renters and they only lived there a couple of weeks.
