HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. -- Another Brownlee Jewelers store has been robbed.
The latest heist happened at about 4:30 a.m. at the Brownlee store in Huntersville at 9763 Sam Furr Road.
It is the latest heist of a Brownlee store in less than a month.
On December 30, the Brownlee store at 8546 University City Boulevard in Charlotte was broken into before dawn by people wearing dark clothing and carrying large bags.
Last Friday, store surveillance cameras captured what appeared to be the same trio breaking into the Brownlee store off of Dave Lyle Boulevard in Rock Hill.
In the latest heist in Huntersville, police say they are checking other stores to see if cameras captured the vehicle the thieves are using to get away.
A Huntersville store employee said the thieves targeted one display case and took “a minimal” amount of gold jewelry.
The value of the items taken was not disclosed in the earlier robberies.
Customers in Huntersville shopped while employees straightened up, cleaning up the glass that was shattered when the thieves kicked in the front door.
Chia Mendelsohn said she was concerned because she shopped at the store on a regular basis.
“Huntersville is a nice community. It’s just sad,” she said.
Another customer, Mary Ann Turetsky, said, “People are desperate. They are out of money, out of options, and they turn to robbery.”
