CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The rainy weather is expected to hang around for much of this week.
The First Warn Storm Team expects showers and thunderstorms each day this week until Friday.
Today will be mostly cloudy skies with light rain throughout the afternoon. Temperatures will be in the low 80s.
"We could see more rain move through the area this afternoon with showers off and on," forecaster Larry Sprinkle said.
Tonight the shower and storms will move out with the setting of the sun. Skies will be mostly cloudy. A little patch fog might develop in those areas that see new rainfall. Temperatures will fall back into the muggy mid-60s.
Tuesday and Wednesday we will see a 30 percent chance of afternoon and evening storms, with partly sunny skies and high temperatures back in the mid- to upper 80s.
"The rain and storms will hang around for much of this week," Sprinkle said. "The rain and storms will move through during the afternoons this week."
The heaviest rain and storms could be on Thursday when a front moves through the Charlotte region in the afternoon.
The good news is the Memorial weekend weather is expected to be dry for the three days.
