CHARLOTTE, N.C.-- It's getting harder to find that perfect house. Not because it doesn't exist, but because you have to act fast, according to Charlotte area realtors.
While you might expect real-estate professionals to want buyers to make decisions, the market proves it’s true. There aren’t as many homes for sale now as you might expect to see in Spring.
“Again, if it's priced right and it's in good condition, they're selling within a week,” said Frank Nelson, of Allen Tate Realty in Charlotte.
Nelson points to numbers. According to the Charlotte Area MLS, there are almost 50 percent fewer homes for sale in the greater Charlotte market now than at this time in 2010. Nelson’s business improved so much, he hired three associates to help him with business, and he created a team.
He says in addition to fewer homes on the market, those that are for sale are selling fast, some within days.
“We listed it on a Friday last month and on Sunday we had an offer,” he said while driving by a house he sold in the Steele Creek area.
Nelson admits homes have to be priced right and in good condition to go that fast. The average home in Charlotte stayed on the market for 76 days in the first quarter of this year.
Still much better than in 2010 when the average home was on the market for 117 days.
