CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- What would you do if you could change the world? Where would you start? What's important to you? That's the concept behind a new social media site called Social Power.
"It's pretty simple. As individuals we're powerless, but collectively, we're very powerful," said one of the site's creators Daniel Gleich.
Gleich and his team created Social Power to allow people to propose issues that matter to them. The issues can include social change, business improvements, new ideas.
The Social Power team watches what's gaining momentum on the site, and sets out to effect that change.
Current popular issues include consumer related issues like asking Starbucks to make the ice cubes for their iced coffee out of coffee-so when the ice cubes melt, the coffee isn't watery.
There are more serious issues on the site as well. One person recommended that grocery stores sell soon-to-expire food for half the price.
Gleich says grocery stores would win because they wouldn't' have to throw away food and could still make money, and the consumer would win with discounted food prices.
