CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- She is the youngest daughter of seven-time NASCAR champion Dale Earnhardt.
Taylor Earnhardt Putnam is already a champion like her dad, but she prefers horses to horsepower. Putnam will be competing at the SRA Rockin’ K Rodeo in Charlotte this Saturday.
“It’s going to be big,” Putnam said of the SRA Rockin’ Rodeo. “It’s been a while since we had one in our area. It’s nice not having to travel two or three hours to something. It’s going to be big, a lot of hometown girls and boys will be in it, so it’s going to be fun”
Putnam said her competitive nature has pushed her through rodeo career and it’s a big reason she has experienced a lot of success.
“Family, friends and husband – we all get a little bit competitive and it’s a fun way to do it,” Putnam said of competing in a rodeo.
Putnam said those lessons she learned from her father have stayed with her in life and through her young rodeo career.
She said her father instilled that hard work mentality and responsibility that drives her every day.
Those two attributes can also be seen in Putnam's work with the Dale Earnhardt Foundation.
"It's been really exciting to be able to continue the values my dad believed with [the foundation]," she said.
