CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- An 18-year-old high school student is facing charges for allegedly threatening to kill the assistant principal, security guard and school resource officer at E.E. Waddell High school.
Police say Omarius Daniels made the threats and had the gun, but there's one thing he probably didn't count on -- his mom turning him in.
"The mother was making statements, saying the student -- her son -- was really agitated and upset, had named some specific people he was going to go shoot and kill," said Sgt. David Schwob with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.
Twelfth-grader Lady Orihuela said, "That's frightening. If you come to school every day you might be here when that happens."
Police say Daniels actually left home with one gun, in search of a second.
"He had left the house to go to another neighborhood to find a larger caliber gun than the one he presently had," said Schwob.
Police say Daniels made the threats because he was mad at the school resource officer for arresting him after a fight on school grounds last Friday.
Daniels remained in jail Wednesday night.
