CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Charlotte-Mecklenburg police are investigating a potential embezzlement at a popular barbecue chain.
Search warrants show a senior accountant with Sonny's Barbecue is suspected of embezzling hundreds of thousands of dollars.
Sonny’s has three Charlotte-area locations: on Carmel Road and Pineville-Matthews Road in south Charlotte and on Tyvola Road near South Boulevard.
An internal audit revealed unauthorized transactions dating back several years.
No charges have been filed as of Thursday, but an investigation is underway.
