HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. -- Emergency crews were forced to free a victim after a multi-vehicle wreck on an icy Huntersville road.

The wreck took place around 11:30 a.m. on Huntersville-Concord Road at Sims Road.

While responding to a separate accident at Eastfield and Simonton Drive, a car crossed the center line and hit the front end of a fire truck.  One person was trapped in their vehicle due to the crash.

No firefighters were hurt, but the driver of the other vehicle was taken to Carolinas Medical Center.

The patient's condition is not known.

There have been 49 wrecks since 8:30 a.m., according to Medic, and 22 people were hurt in those wrecks.
