CARTERET COUNTY, N.C. – Folks at a nursery in Carteret County found an eight foot gator sunbathing this week.

Wildlife officials had to wrangle the reptile, and no one was hurt..

The nursery owner says that gator was there when her worker opened up shop the other morning.

“We don't know if he was dumped off, if it actually walked up from the coast line or what, but it was certainly a surprise,” said the owner.  “When he told me it was an alligator I was expecting a lizard."

Wildlife officials released that gator back into the White Oak River Basin.
