CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- For over thirty years, the Make-A-Wish Foundation has granted special wishes to children with life-threatening medical conditions.
Since its beginning, the organization has reached more than 250,000 children around the world. A network of nearly 25,000 volunteers serve as wish granters, fundraisers, special events assistants and in numerous other capacities.
Last Friday was a special day, as children across the country were granted their wishes at Macy's. It was National Believe Day at Macy's Northlake Mall.
Emily Hain from Salisbury, North Carolina was given a send-off celebration in honor of her wish to go to New York City to see the Broadway Musical, "Wicked". Emily is undergoing treatment for Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, a disorder marked by extremely loose joints, hyper elastic skin that bruises easily, and easily damaged blood vessels.
This morning on Larry's Look, we met Emily and her family and talked to her about her dream to go to the Big Apple and see Broadway performance. Larry was there to greet her at Macy's and to escort her through the store, where she got some special gifts and her make-over.
