CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The Charlotte Bobcats have made the news a lot lately, most recently with the signing of free agent center Al Jefferson.

He’s the veteran leader who can help his teammates get better and he has several more years at the core of the franchise.

Jefferson is one of only two players in the NBA to have averaged at least 17.0 points and at least 9.0 rebounds in each of the last six seasons, joining Dwight Howard in doing so.

This morning on Larry’s Look, the President and Chief Operating Officer of the Bobcats was in our studio to talk about the team and some other great things going-on.

Fred Whitfield is one of the busiest executives in the city.  In fact, his annual  “Hoop-Tees Golf Tournament” is this week.  Lots of big-name celebrities are town for the event.

Something else happening this summer is the 29th Annual Achievements Unlimited Basketball School.

Whitfield created a camp that not only teaches the fundamentals of basketball, but even more importantly--- it teaches the importance of education and staying drug-free.
