CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- A man drove his vehicle through a University City gas station early Friday morning.

The incident happened at the 7-Eleven off of North Tryon near West Mallard Creek Church Road around 3:30 a.m.

The driver accidentally put the car in reverse and backed into the front of the store, smashing the front window of the store and causing damage to displays inside the gas station.

The driver was not hurt and emergency crews are working to pull the car out of the gas station.

The 7-Eleven is closed while crews clean up the scene.
