CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Workers arrived at the Sardis Presbyterian Church Wednesday morning to find a surprise: a statue of the Virgin Mary sitting on the steps of the Sanctuary.
The two-foot-tall statue is somewhat weathered, and appears to have come from someone's lawn, a church spokesperson says.
Church officials would like to reunite the statuette with its rightful owner.
