MINT HILL, N.C. -- A trailer home in Mint Hill was destroyed by a fire early Monday morning.
The blaze broke out at the home on Rivendall Road near Matthews-Mint Hill Road around 5:45 a.m. in Mint Hill.
It's unclear what caused the fire.
The American Red Cross is assisting the one adult and three children who lived in the home.
Crews, working in subfreezing temperatures, were able to subdue the blaze in less than an hour. Officials are working to determine the cause.
The fire forced police to close N.C. 51 for about an hour.
