WAKE COUNTY, N.C. -- So far, no charges have been filed in the death of a 14-year old student who was hit by a car while waiting for her school bus.

It happened Monday morning in Garner in Wake County.

Highway patrol says the bus was approaching the stop and activated its flashing amber lights, but didn't have the stop arm out or its flashing red stoplights on.

The student reportedly tried to cross the road at the same time and ran into the path of a car traveling in the opposite direction from the bus.

The student died at the scene.

The investigation continues.

Police say when they've wrapped it up, they'll present their findings to the DA.
