CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Nova's is one of the newer additions to Charlotte's South End. The bakery is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Monday night around 11:20, two men armed with a handgun and a sawed-off shotgun robbed the place.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police released surveillance images of the two men during the robbery.

Both men were dressed in black, with one wearing a read hat and the second man wearing blue rag to cover his face.

"I'm shocked. I am shocked that anyone would be that stupid," said Louise Mrkva, a longtime South End resident.

Not only did the suspects rob the clerk, they also pointed that shotgun at the three customers who were inside at the time.

"I've never had any issues; I run up and down here all the time and I haven't had any issues at night or during the day at all, so I am surprised," said resident Greg Osenga.

The owner of the bakery declined to talk about this crime, but she did tell NBC Charlotte they have turned over security video of the robbery over to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department Robbery Investigators.

Fortunately no one was injured during the robbery. Officers continue to look for the men who are responsible.
