CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Charlotte Mecklenburg police are looking for four men who committed a brazen daylight robbery in of Finks Jewelers inside of Northlake Mall.

The crime occurred around 1:20 Wednesday afternoon.

"They went directly to a jewelry case and used hammers to break the glass, and stole an unknown quantity of jewelry," said Lt. Brian Foley of CMPD'S North Division.

Police responded quickly and conducted an extensive search on the ground, in the air with their helicopter and with the K-9 unit.

"No persons were harmed or threatened. They didn't indicate any weapons. They didn't show any weapons. They didn't say anything to anybody. They just went straight to the jewelry case, broke the glass and stole the jewelry we talked about," said Foley.

Police found a potential getaway car behind TGI Friday's, but no sign of the suspects who may have left with a fourth man in a blue SUV.

"We think there are four suspects. We think there is a driver we need to identify," said the lieutenant.

The commotion left some shoppers like Gertrude Lewis nervous.

"It makes me pretty nervous, you know. It makes me pretty nervous. They’re bold in broad daylight," she said.

The three suspects who walked into the store were caught on tape. Investigators say they have some high quality pictures and they are optimistic they will be able to identify and catch them.
