CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Temperatures are expected to climb in the 90s today for the Charlotte region.
If the area reaches the 90s it will be the first time this year, according to the First Warn Storm Team.
"The Charlotte region has a good chance of seeing temperatures in the 90s later this afternoon," forecaster Larry Sprinkle said. "There's a small chance of rain or a storm for some in the viewing area."
The forecast in Charlotte for this afternoon calls for mostly sunny skies with temperatures nearing the 90s. There is a 20 percent chance for a storm later in the afternoon.
Tonight will be cloudy and very mild and muggy with lows near 70. Thursday will be a very hot day with highs in the low 90s.
Late in the day a strong cold front will approach the area with strong to sever storms likely. The chance of rain Thursday is 60 percent.
