CHARLOTTE, N.C.  - The USO of North Carolina will support more than 2,300 service members from Fort Jackson who will depart from Charlotte International Airport.

This is called Operation Victory Block Leave, a program which supports the efforts of getting Fort Jackson, soldiers who are in the Army basic training program home to their families for the holiday season.

Soldiers will return to Fort Jackson after a two-week leave period.

Soldiers started coming through Charlotte Douglas Airport around 3 a.m. They should be through security by 9 a.m. and on their way home by noon, according to the USO.

The USO  has been at the airport since 3 a.m. to greet them with shifts throughout the day to help take care of the soldiers and get them home for the holidays.
