Arrest made after off-duty officer shoots at man breaking into his home

An off-duty Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officer shot at a man trying to break into his north Charlotte home early Tuesday morning. Late Tuesday night, police said that they had arrested the would-be burglar, 21-year-old Thomas Howard Powell.
