Columbia, SC (WLTX) - South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley says she's asking for the public's patience as the state continues to deal with the impacts of Hurricane Matthew.
"It's still a very serious situation, and we are not out of the woods," Haley told the public Saturday morning.

She said the state is still working to respond to damaged areas as well as deal with the the effects of the storm that are still talking place.
She said that for those who evacuated, it could be two more days before they're allowed to go back home.
"Now is when the frustration sets in, " she said,"Most injuries, most fatalities happen after the storm...Just know that we want it to make it safe for you to find out about your home."
Here are the other key messages on the storm.
State forecasters say 10-14 inches of rain was received in the Midlands, 5-11 in the eastern Midlands and Pee Dee, and 2-6 in the central Midlands.
Wind gusts: 88 miles an hour in Hilton Head, 75 MPH in Folly Beach, 58 miles an hour in Orangeburg, and 55 miles an hour in McEntire.
The Charleston Harbor had a surge of 9.29 feet, the 3rd highest on record, and highest since Hugo.
437,303 outages statewide.
Beaufort, Charleston and Richland are the counties with the highest number of outages
Utilities are going to go into areas when its safe.
2,700 SCDOT crew maintenance are on standby to be deployed.
People are receiving emails that say if they want to receive updates on outages, click here. Gov. Haley said that is a scam.
Hackers are using the scam to get into people's computers. .
She says if you do not know the sender, don't click. "Delete it, don't click," she reinforced.
78 shelters are open with over 6,000 in them. There is plenty of space available.
Gov. Nikki Haley will work with school officials in Richland County to determine if they will go back to school Monday.
