CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Much of the Charlotte region was under a flash flood warning this morning as bands of heavy rains swept through.

Water backed up on Tyvola Road between South Boulevard and Park Road covering one lane.

CMPD blocked the lane to prevent accidents.

And C-DOT brought in a truck and operator to suction the water from the road so it could be reopened.

Tyvola funnels heavy traffic from I-77 to the SouthPark Mall.
