TEGA CAY, S.C. -- Sewage spilled into two local bodies of water Monday due to heavy rainfall.

An overflow situation in Tega Cay began around 1 a.m. Crews have been working all day to correct the problem, which should be easier since the rain has stalled.

A “no swimming” advisory has been issued for Lake Wylie. Utilities, Inc. says they are confident the drinking water is safe based on the water treatment operation.

Hildebran Creek in Catawba County was also affected. Officials with the City of Newton said more than 7,400 gallons spilled into the creek in the 1400 block of NC 10 West.
