WILMINGTON, N.C. -- It’s a sight often unseen, but sleet covered the ground on Wrightsville Beach in Wilmington, N.C. Tuesday night.
The beaches were white, with sand practically invisible and completely coated by the white stuff.
First Warn Meteorologist John Wendel was soaking wet from the precipitation. He said many locals came out to the beach just to see the sleet because some of them have never seen it before. About three-quarters of an inch fell by the end of Tuesday, and it hadn’t yet stopped.
The weather brought down some cable and power lines in the area, as well.
Some snow could develop by Wednesday.
