CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- More than 8,000 people were left without power after storms blew through the Charlotte area Wednesday night.

Residents reported trees down in different areas, including a tree on a house on Scofield Road.

Fire crews also responded to SouthPark Mall, where water was said to be leaking from the roof. There wasn't any standing water, but signs warning shoppers about wet floors were spread throughout the mall.

About 3,800 of the power outages were in Mecklenburg County.

Dave Matthews was set to play Wednesday evening in Charlotte at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater but lighting strikes delayed the show and fans were told to move off the lawn.

No injuries were reported.

Crews will begin the clean up process today in areas that were hit the hardest on Wednesday.

Duke Power crews have been working through the evening and early morning hours of Thursday to restore power to several residents in Mecklenburg County.
