INDIAN TRAIL, N.C. -- The winter storm brought down two local animal rescue facilities this week.

The Carolina Waterfowl Rescue in Indian Trail lost two aviaries. Pens were damaged, and some of the birds were displaced as volunteers make repairs. One of the organization’s birds also died, but not due to the collapse. The group does believe the cold was a factor.

Donations and volunteers are needed. Carolina Waterfowl Rescue is asking for chain link fencing and lumber. Online gifts can be donated here.

In York, Richardson Rescue lost fence panels and metal frames. They need both replaced, as well as tarps. The organization’s pets were not hurt. People interested in helping can mail a check to Richardson Rescue, 1968 Garvin Rd, York, SC 29745.
