How to stay prepared for severe weather

It's a good idea to make sure everyone in your house knows where you would go in a tornado warning. Here are some tips from Chief Meteorologist Brad Panovich.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – For the second time in three days, severe weather is having an impact on the Carolinas.

A line of strong storms is expected to make its way to Charlotte Wednesday night around 9 p.m., bringing with it a risk of tornadoes and hail overnight and early Thursday.

Chief Meteorologist Brad Panovich says it’s important for everyone to be weather aware and prepared ahead of the storms.

One of the easiest, cheapest, and essential items you’ll want to have in your home is a severe weather supply kit.  Panovich says you’ll want to have the following items handy and in an easily accessible place:

  • Helmet
  • Whistle
  • First Aid kit
  • Weather Radio
  • Food
  • Water
  • Batteries
  • Flashlight
  • Car charging kit
