Century old farmhouse & three century old tree collide .

....and our Flag was still there!

After approximately 300 years, this Giant Red Oak which is said to be the largest and oldest tree in Stanly County has given up a valued appendage. Not during a raging storm as we sometimes experience in our area, but on a still, calm Sunday night. All living things eventually succumb to old age and the ravages of life. Fortunately, it seems the remainder of this grand old survivor will be able to be saved with a little TLC, according to Chris from H&H Tree Service in Albemarle.
Also, by the Grace of God, the owners (Stephen & Sherry Kuhn) of this century old farmhouse located in New London were not hurt during the incident. “Thank God it wasn’t a couple of feet to the left” said Stephen, the owner of Uncle Stevie’s Homemade Treats for Dogs.
