Christmas 2010, A great time with my close family.

Always Smiling for a New Beginning

My friends, family, and school always keep me smiling. I am always happy and it shows. I go to UNCC for a history major wishing to be a great teacher but with the college loans and scholarships, I already have a debt built up and that is before getting my masters degree. My parents cannot afford to buy my braces now and neither can I. I would like to have a beautiful smile but right now I can't.
As a junior in high school, I had my wisdom teeth removed and the surgeon said my teeth would straighten out automatically and unfortunately, they have actually gotten worse. I have had a pain in the back of my jaw where the teeth keep moving. I love to smile because I am so happy with my life and thankful for my faith, family, friends, and education but keeping a smile on when you know it isn't as pretty other people's keeps that doubt in your mind and brings your smile down.
Eventually I will get braces even if it is later in life but I will always look forward to a brighter, straighter, and more beautiful smile because my smiles are contagious and I love that feeling when I can bring a smile to someone else. I can only hope that when my smile is pretty my smile will continue to be contagious if not more and I can help the students learn in a more friendly and happy environment.

Keep smiling,
Katie Paxton
