I was determined to go to the prom. I didn't date and had no prospects of being asked to the prom. I often went ice skating at the old Coliseum on Independence Blvd. now Bojangles Arena. I forced myself to talk to a boy. He asked me out and after our second date I asked him to the prom. He was a student at Belmont Abbey College and was from Savannah, Georgia. I went away to Nashville, Tennessee to college. We corresponded for a while but eventually lost touch.
