Hey Everyone,
I am in the International Baccalaureate program at South Iredell High School. In the IB program, we are required to complete a personal project to graduate from the Middle Years Program. I have chosen to create a 5K within the community. It is called The H.O.P.E. Run, which stands for: Helping to Open People’s Eyes to the physical and emotional effects of cancer. The proceeds from the 5K will go towards a charity called Look Good Feel Better. This organization is designed to help cancer patients who have undergone chemotherapy feel beautiful in their own skin and help to rebuild their self-esteem. My goal is to raise $1000 to donate to this amazing charity. I am very passionate about this cause because cancer has influenced my family greatly. My grandmother had multiple myeloma and still suffers from the effects of this cancer. My grandfather had bladder cancer and skin cancer. My great grandmother had breast cancer. Lastly, my other grandfather had lung cancer that eventually spread to his brain. He died February 10th, 2002 at age 60. We are supporting the fight against the physical and emotional effects of cancer. Mrs. Deb Haskett and Mrs. Kerry Puckett are cancer survivors who shared their stories at the 5K. We raised over $1,000 for the Look Good Feel Better organization.
