Suspect in custody after arcade shooting in Matthews, police say

The suspect was taken into custody later on Saturday following the shooting, according to police.

MATTHEWS, N.C. — A suspect is in custody following a shooting at an arcade in Matthews Saturday morning, according to the Matthews Police Department.

Officers say they were called to the City Arcade along East Independence Boulevard around 6 a.m., where it was reported a man had shot another man several times in the parking lot after a dispute. The victim had already been taken to the hospital by other witnesses before officers arrived.

Later on Saturday, the suspect was identified as Andre Pittman, Matthews police said. Pittman was taken into custody and is charged with attempted first-degree murder, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury and discharging a firearm in the city limits.
