Briana Harper is the weekday evening reporter at WCNC Charlotte. She was born and raised in Asheville and a proud graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (Go Heels!). Briana is thrilled to be back home in the Carolinas after her tv news career took her to Gainesville, Florida, for her first reporting job, then New Bern, North Carolina, working at WCTI NewsChannel 12, and later WCPO in Cincinnati, Ohio.
What Briana enjoys most about her job as a reporter is getting a chance to meet new characters every day with a different story and experience to share. She’s also a member of the National Association of Black Journalists.
Trust is a very important part of her day-to-day job because, with each assignment she covers, she says she wants the viewers to feel confident in knowing that they can count on her and WCNC Charlotte as a whole to provide the best and most accurate information. In her opinion, that’s what her job is all about, turning the role of a newscaster into a trusted friend.
When she’s not on-air you can find her spending time with family and friends, exploring new restaurants in the Queen City, traveling or binge-watching a Netflix show.
